The Peak Emotion Finder makes it easy for researchers to find ‘hot button’ topics and identify audio clips for presentation by identifying which sections of responses have scored high for each type of emotion – calm, happy, sad, etc. It is especially valuable when researchers want to spot the most interesting sections of long-form responses or find emotionally charged responses across many survey respondents.
‘3D’ Transcription displays the words people used, the associated nonconscious emotion score, and the time within the response. Researchers simply highlight words within responses to see the respondent’s emotion score for those words and to compare the respondent’s emotion score for their full response and to all respondents’ emotion scores. The time stamp can be used to compare the emotion detected in the respondent’s voice to other measures and to quickly find audio clips for presentations.
Automatic tagging uses natural language processing to quickly identify topics of potential interest to researchers across responses and to assign tags to responses. Both the automatic tags and researcher-created manual tags may be used for sorting responses and cross-referenced with associated emotions, which also can be used for sorting.
Scatterplots of emotion and sentiment visualize the difference between conscious word choices and nonconscious emotions so researchers can see at a glance where words and emotions aren’t aligned, e.g., with sarcasm and when people ‘put on a brave face.’
Custom reports and visualizations can now be co-created with Phebi to provide effective summaries of studies and saves templates to be used across studies. The custom reports appear in the Phebi portal on the Home Page of the surveys they are added to.
BYO vocabularies enable clients to provide industry-specific vocabularies that improve transcriptions and sentiment capabilities. With this capability, for example, medical researchers might bring a custom vocabulary that enables Phebi to ‘hear’ ‘IV’ instead of ‘ivy.’ Some industry-specific vocabularies are available from Phebi for no additional charge.
Support for CATI/IVR surveys adds another mode of voice data collection to the already supported digital mode (web and mobile surveys) so researchers can gain insight into people’s emotions across more responses.
